What Is Cellulite? Facts, Reduction, Tips
Cellulite describes a condition that occurs in men and women where the skin of the lower limbs, abdomen, and pelvic region becomes dimpled after puberty. The reason cellulite is rarely seen in men and widely appeared in women. There are many different sections that will focus on the dreaded cellulite. Almost 90% of women in America and Europe suffer from the dreaded “cottage cheese” syndrome or the “orange peel” skin. A person’s genetic makeup predicts their fat storage and metabolism in these layers which are predisposed by diet, exercise and lifestyle. A brief overview of cellulite is the Fat deposits under the skin that outwardly give the skin a dimpled, or orange-peel like appearance. We always have to keep in mind that the skin reflects our internal state of health and nutrition. Also make sure to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.
This unsightly bumpy appearance of cellulite on the skin is most commonly seen on the hips, thighs and buttocks of women. A woman’s hormones are usually responsible for the regulation of their blood flow, fat, connective tissue and lymphatic drainage. Cellulite’s formation is a result of complex physiological changes that occur in the subcutaneous fat layer. There are two types of cellulite and they are soft cellulite and hard cellulite. Hard cellulite is difficult to get rid of because it doesn’t lift from the body easily. It’s also harder to see because it attaches directly to the muscle. Soft cellulite is not as concentrated as hard cellulite and is much more visible. It occurs in large areas and, because it doesn’t attach so strongly to the muscle, it’s looser, often sagging from the body.

How To Reduce Appearance Of Cellulite
The occurrence of cellulite is undoubtedly disappointing for many. It is a very unpleasant skin condition, which is why many sufferers try many ways to reduce the appearance. Women in particular are very sensitive with cellulite issues, and it is embarrassing to go around with very obvious cellulite. Cellulite is more likely to develop in the arms, tummy, and thighs — parts of the body that easily show.
There are plenty of reasons why cellulite forms. Let us find out the various causes to determine the appropriate treatments.
Reason 1 – Cellulite can be inherited. Women coming from families prone to cellulite have the tendency to develop it as well. Cellulite often develops during the teen years, mostly around the ages of 14 or 15. Some women also develop cellulite after childbirth.
Reason 2 – Food is also a big factors for cellulite formation. The intake of foods containing caffeine or alcohol triggers the formation of cellulite. Unhealthy eating is the key word — Junk food and other toxin-developing morsels encourage cellulite to develop.
Reason 3 – The use of sleeping pills, diet pills, oral contraceptives, and weight control tablets also triggers the formation of cellulite. The production of estrogen is the reason why these medicines encourage the development of cellulite. These medicines also increase toxin levels in the body, which only adds to the problem..
Reason 4 – A stick of cigarette can affect body systems harshly — a single stick contains quite an amount of harmful chemicals. A smoker is prone to lung and heart diseases, and their skin looks unhealthy and dry. Cigarette users are known to develop cellulite more readily than no smokers.
Reason 5 – Water is an important element that helps cleanse the body. Most of the body toxins can be eliminated with enough water. Not drinking enough water during the day leads to the buildup of toxins, which encourages the development of cellulite.
It is easier to avoid cellulite if you know how they occur. But if you are having trouble with cellulite already, you may want to try these simple treatment methods:
Treatment 1 – Follow a good, healthy diet. Your diet should include fresh foods with very little harmful toxins. It is always advisable to eat food prepared at home instead of those in fast food chains. Canned goods are not advisable either.
It is also a good idea to eat foods that flush out toxins from the body. You can do your own research to find such foods that can fit in your diet. Multivitamins are good too, since they help reduce the formation of cellulite.
Treatment 2 – Drink at least 7-8 glasses of water daily. This helps flush out toxins that aggravate cellulite.
Treatment 3 – Stop smoking, in case it is a habit. Cigarette smoking is bad for the health, as you have probably heard millions of times before. If you continue smoking, it will be next to impossible to reduce appearance of cellulite.
If you think your cellulite is a serious problem and you are looking for a fast solution, it would be best to see your doctor for treatment. On the other hand, if you have the patience to take things one step at a time, you can religiously follow the suggested methods above.

Best Cellulite Exercises For Easy Cellulite Solution
It’s no secret. Cellulite solution is a common wish amongst women of all ages, regardless of body weight or body fat. Women spend billions of dollars on cellulite treatments and cellulite creams every year, usually with little or no lasting results. There are tons of articles out there giving you ‘the answers’. (And I don’t mean the ‘advertorials’ that are trying to sell you anti cellulite cream, lotion or pills.) The truth is, your best weapons in your battle against unwelcome cellulite and the burning question ‘how to get rid of cellulite ‘?, are a smart nutritional routine and a consistent, properly structured home workout program consisting of targeted anti-cellulite exercises.
Anti cellulite nutrition focuses on minimally processed, high nutrient content foods. Salads, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins such as fish, turkey, beans and eggs are at the top of the list for foods that promote cellulite reduction.
As for the properly structured cellulite exercise workout program, I’ve put together a butt, hip and thigh routine which you can incorporate into your current workouts if you have one. This routine specifically targets the areas where cellulite tends to ‘hang out’.
Bear in mind, I’ve been training people since the late eighties. Speaking strictly from experience, I can tell you that the following routine is responsible for helping many women dramatically change the appearance of their cellulite areas.
- Lying on your side, do 10 reps of each anti cellulite exercise:
1) Bring both knees forward so your hips are at a 90 degree angle. Then straighten your top leg out in front of you, still keeping 90 degrees at the hip. Lift the top leg slowly about three feet off the ground & down.
2) Straighten both legs so your body is in a straight line. Tilt the hips forward slightly. Lift the top leg about three feet off the ground & down.
3) Repeat on the other side.
- On the elbows and knees, do 10 reps of each anti cellulite exercise:
1) Extend one leg straight back with your toe on the ground. Lift that leg up toward the ceiling & down. Then switch legs.
2) Lift your knee off the floor. Extend that same heel back and up so your leg is pointing toward the ceiling & then bring the knee back into you. Then switch legs.
- Standing up, do 10 reps of each anti cellulite exercise:
1) Start with your feet together. Step out in front in to a lunge position. Touch the ground with opposite hand. Come back up & step back to the starting position. Then switch legs.
2) Put one foot up on a step (12 – 18 inches high). Slowly step up and down with the other foot. Then switch legs.
If this routine is easy try going through it twice. If you still need more of a challenge, increase the reps to 15 or 20 per set. Do this anti cellulite exercise program two to three times per week and you’ll soon realize that you have found a true cellulite treatment that will also save you a lot of money that you would be spending on cellulite treatments, creams and lotions that never work. Remember, ‘it’s all in the exercises’.

Cellulite Wraps – Worth A Try?
Many cellulite treatments are quite painful, such as liposuction and surgery. Even a needle massage or mesotherapy can be unbearable for those with a fear of needles. Is there a cellulite treatment that actually feels good? Perhaps cellulite wraps are for you.
Cellulite wraps is a new treatment for cellulite that most of the better spas offer. It removes toxins, improves circulation, and makes the skin tighter and more supple. This article will outline how it is done.
You will need to know that cellulite body wrap is a rather personal treatment. The therapist will likely require you to take off your clothes prior to the treatment, leaving you in your underwear. But you can keep the rest of your clothes on when only treating one problem area. So make sure you are not bothered by the idea of lying on a massage table half-naked before doing so.
With all that said, the first step is exfoliation. Using a special sea salt scrub or another one of your personal liking, therapists exfoliate the skin and preparing it for the actual body wrap.
After the skin is exfoliated, a special cream made from a mixture of seaweed, mud and algae, all of which are natural and non-synthetic, is applied to your problem areas. Doing this removes toxins that lie below the skin, improving blood circulation and promoting sweating in the area. However, it is of little use if the next step is not performed.
The next step is wrapping the body or the affected areas with warm linen or seaweed, depending on your choice. This is the reason why it is called a “body wrap.” This opens the pores, allowing the mud cream to drain the toxins from under the skin. This step takes time, so the therapist will most likely be asking you if you are still feeling comfortable before leaving you for about 30 to 45 minutes.
Many cellulite sufferers who have tried cellulite body wrap say that this is the most relaxing part of the treatment, sometimes falling asleep right on the treatment bed.
After almost an hour, the therapist wakes you up and removes the body wrap. As a finishing touch, the therapist will then apply moisturizer on your skin. Doing so makes the skin look suppler, improving the areas appearance immediately. The massaging action will also burn a few fat cells in the process through the generation of heat in the area.
Also, aside from being a very effective treatment, body wrapping is an effective way of relaxing and saying goodbye to all the stress of a tough week. Many cellulite sufferers who have been trying other kinds of treatment methods take weekly body wraps just for its therapeutic benefits.
So what are you waiting for? Start checking for spas around your area that offer cellulite wraps — it is a fun, painless way to make your trouble spots look smoother for the week ahead. Remember that this treatment leaves you extremely dehydrated after the session, so be sure to drink lots of water beforehand.
